Students take pride in participation in penny drive

My school, Lafe Nelson, recently participated in the Centennial Copper Dome Penny Drive. We have about 550 students who are participating in this event.
Each student is making a difference, whether it is donating pennies, helping to organize, accurately keeping a count of the money, creating a school graph or donating time in many other ways.
We have become trustworthy, responsible, respectful and work together while accomplishing a worthy task we feel strongly about. We also learned to help one another and to be selfless.
No matter how big or how small the contribution is, we have learned that as long as we work together, we can make a difference in our world. We also learned no matter how young you are, if you work together, huge things can be accomplished. You must believe in yourself, as well as your classmates.
Most importantly, we learned how to take a stand for something bigger than us or even our community. We are privileged to join other students in our great state of Arizona by helping to keep our State Capitol a beautiful reflection of our state values.
