License plate marks Arizona's centennial

Posted on by az100

The Arizona Centennial Commission unveiled a new specialty license plate decorated with the state flag.

The red, blue and yellow plate is part of the state’s centennial celebration in 2012, said Karen Churchard, commission director.

It took the commission three tries to get approval for the plates from the state Legislature.

Arizona has the best-looking state flag and the new plates are a great way to showcase it, Churchard said.

Arizona already has two kinds of specialty plates with an American flag on them. Sales from those plates benefit veterans.

The centennial plates will be available for $25 plus a postage fee.

You can order online at servicearizona.com beginning Sunday and at Motor Vehicle Division offices beginning Monday.
