(RTTNews) – Dierks Bentley‘s single, “Home,” has been made the official song by Arizona’s Centennial Commission for the state’s 100-year celebration.
The Arizona native will also return home himself in February to serve as the Honorary Chairman of the Arizona Centennial Motorcycle Ride.
Of the “Home” writing process, Dierks told radio interviewers that it was inspired by events that went down in his home state:
“I think the first thing I thought of when we started writing it was the shooting that happened in Tucson, Ariz., with [U.S. Rep.] Gabby Giffords. That had happened about four days earlier. That, for me, my home state — that invokes so many different feelings of anger and questions of why. And also, of course, the healing process. It all kind of came together in this song.”
“Home” is the latest single from Dierks’ yet-to-be-titled sixth studio album, due in early 2012.
