Desert Foothills Theater is thrilled to be in production for a World-Premiere, Arizona Centennial play, In the Devil’s Frying Pan in January of 2012. The Devil’s Frying Pan, as some referred to Arizona, was a dry, desolate, dangerous place. Just getting here was fraught with danger and staying – that’s when it got really interesting.

In the Devil’s Frying Pan introduces you to those hearty folk brave enough to settle the land we now call Arizona. Through oral histories and other first- person narratives, the pivotal moments that culminated in Arizona achieving statehood are shared from the perspectives of those who helped make it happen. Experience history as you immerse yourself in the stories, poetry, music and imagery of that time! Discover the origins of the indomitable Arizona spirit that continues today.

This project has already been recognized as both an Official Arizona Centennial Project and an Arizona Centennial Legacy Project.

They are pleased to be partnering with the Arizona Historical Society to tour the project to Tucson and Flagstaff and to provide school matinees.

The World Premiere will be in Cave Creek, Arizona from February 2 – 19, 2012. It was written by Lori Vander Maten and is being directed by Mark Clemente.

They have 30 days to raise a minimum of $8,000 (they can always exceed the goal)! The more people who give what they can, the closer to goal they will come!

You may donate online at, or donate by mailing a check made out to Desert Foothills Theater to 34250 N. 60th Street, Building B, Scottsdale, AZ 85266.

The project has been accepted as a Kickstarter program. Kickstarter is an online fundraising service designed to encourage support of new works. Visit the kickstarter campaign at:
