PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) — Prescott will kickoff Arizona’s centennial celebration.
As the first of three cities to have served as the state capital, Prescott will host the initial Best of Arizona Festival in celebration of Arizona’s 100 year anniversary.
The City of Prescott State Centennial Committee announced that Prescott would initiate the centennial festivities on Sept. 16, 17, and 18, 2011.
Prescott’s event will include a Street Fair “Block Party” around the Yavapai County Courthouse plaza and Prescott’s Central Historic District.
Tucson celebrates Arizona’s centennial in October 2011, and the Phoenix festival will take place during the weekend of Feb. 14, 2012, which is Arizona Statehood Day.
