The City of Peoria invites the community out to enjoy their 28th Annual July 4th All American Festival on Monday, July 4th, 2011.
This year’s event has been designated an Official Arizona Centennial event by the Arizona Centennial Commission. There will be plenty of kid friendly activities including Water Zones, Kids Zone with Radio Disney, bounce houses, panning for gold and much more. The Centennial Zone will feature Country music by Chad Freeman and Redline along with Centennial themed exhibits and activities. In the Rock n Roll Zone KDKB’s own Sludge’s Build a Band will perform. Don’t forget to sign up at local Sonic locations or online to participate in the Sonic Foot Long Hot Dog Eating contest, held in the main stadium. Check out the F-16 flyover at approximately 7:00 p.m. and watch one of the valley’s best fireworks extravaganzas at 9:15 p.m.
This year the City will be partnering with the Salvation Army to kick off their annual Pack to School Drive to provide school supplies and backpacks to 15 Valley School and 17 Salvation Army programs. There will be donation boxes located at each event entrance where we will be collecting backpacks, rulers, pencils and notebook paper. Due to the heat, please do not donate items that can melt. You can help The Salvation Army reach their goal of collecting more than 200,000 items of school supplies.
Gates open at 5pm at Peoria Sports Complex, located at 16101 N. 83rd Ave just south of Bell Rd. Admission is $5 and kids 12 and under are free. Parking is free. Concessions and beer will be available for purchase.
Lawn chairs, blankets, coolers with food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted. No alcohol, glass containers, portable canopies, or bicycles are permitted into the event.
